Who We Are

Tens of thousands of evacuated Afghans now seek refuge in the United States. Many Afghan newcomers, including Afghan humanitarian parolees, face complex immigration legal challenges as they work toward securing a permanent future here.

ILSAA helps EAAs navigate the U.S. legal immigration system by providing access to free immigration legal services. We also offer trainings, resources, peer networking opportunities, and ongoing support to legal service providers across the U.S. so that they can better serve EAAs.

ILSAA is funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and implemented by the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI).

Important Update About the Future of ILSAA

July 12: Important Update!

The Immigration Legal Services for Afghan Arrivals (ILSAA) project will continue taking cases until September 29, 2024. ILSAA is funded by the U.S. Government, and this funding is available for a limited time.

Here is what you need to know:

  • If you need legal assistance and have not completed an ILSAA intake, please do so by September 29, 2024. Please contact ILSAA (email ILSAAinfo@icf.com or toll-free at 833-286-0864).
  • If you have already completed your intake, ILSAA will still connect you with a lawyer.
  • If you already have a lawyer, you should reach out to them with any questions.

We will keep you informed throughout the process. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during this time.
